an end to all the violence

Yeah, so, um, this week’s theme fell together by accident, and I kinda don’t have any other violent things to talk about. I still really, really like that gun, and I still can’t find my switchblade, and… that’s about it. Jimmy forgets that I CAN’T TALK ABOUT ninja camp or they take away my license to ninj. So except for my occasional emotionally violent outbursts, I’m pretty much tapped out. I punched my friend Chris once, when I just couldn’t take any more of his bigoted, homophobic, chauvinist crap. There was a time during my angsty teen years when frustration would get the better of me, and I did manage to take a few chunks out of my plaster walls (plaster, not sheetrock) and I once broke a window in a brief rage… but no WEAPONS. Watch out, though… I have a set of Henckels kitchen knives, and I know how to use them!

I Am More Than A Terrific Backside

(That was for Shawn, who I hope is now satisfied. The rest of this post has nothing little to do with my delightful ass.)

For a change, I don’t have much to say tonight. I would, however, like to write an addendum to yesterday’s post. One which I actually wrote yesterday, in fact, but lost due to some network timeout issues and didn’t realize before I hit the Publish button: I am not eating an entire Key lime pie every week. I bake the pie, I eat a slice for scientific chemistry/bake-istry purposes, and then I give the rest of the pie to Scott. Scott actually goes to the gym, and can afford the calories. I do NOT go to the gym, and need to keep tabs on my apparently world-famous derrière.

The End. ;)

This is a test. This is only a test.

This is a test of a new layout and header. This blogger, in voluntary cooperation with no specific authorities, has developed this system to keep you informed in the event of a new layout. ow ow ow ow ow

I’ll blame it on the 60mph wind gusts we’ve been getting today. Because I swear, I did not POKE myself in the eye, although it’s felt like that all afternoon. I have spent the last few hours with tears streaming down my face, and my nose running in sympathy, because I did not have a contact lens case and my glasses with me. I took out the lens, cleaned it, popped it back in… nope, didn’t do the trick. By the time I left the office, I was starting to get concerned that I had done some real damage somehow, but now that I’ve been lens-free for the last 20 minutes or so, it’s starting to feel better. Whew!

Okay, let it be heard here first: I am going to sew, or at least start sewing, a dress this weekend. There, now I’m obligated to do it. Because I also have to make Key Lime Pie #5, attend a birthday party, and accompany my mother to her Artist Trading Cards meeting. I am planning on starting Butterick Retro ’52 B4790 (as seen in this post) because I happened to pick out very dark fabrics for it when I bought the pattern, solid black and a black-and-red chrysanthemum print, and if I actually get it done I can throw a cardigan on and wear it now. So yeah, that’s the plan.

Also this weekend, I will potentially be making ten, count ’em, TEN personalized ID tags for a SINGLE CUSTOMER, assuming she gets me her list of names by then. Shout out to Cindy for ordering tags for all of her friends! CPBR thanks you.

the minimum amount of flair

Posting for the sake of posting because I promised I would post.

1. The white cake did not turn out. I blame the altitude, which I tried my best to adjust for, but this is a new recipe for me and I should have known better than to trust chemistry to work out right the first time. Also, my baking soda might have lost its fizz. I didn’t even bother frosting the sad little cake layers this morning. I wonder if they’ll compost?

2. Jana slipped out of the office during a medium-scale power outage today, with no fanfare whatsoever. The little sneak. She has to come back to the office at least one more time to tie up some loose ends on this last project of hers, so I’ll get a proper good-bye in somehow.

3. I participated in my first caucus this evening. It was fairly chaotic, and our precinct secretary explained that their last caucus drew seven voters… they expected more this time, of course, and figured on about 45 people. I think we doubled that. Seven different precincts in my district were supposed to be meeting in the middle school’s cafeteria, but they ran out of space and had to shift some precincts to other rooms. And somebody (with permission) had to “break” into the school’s office to make more copies of the straw polls and sign-in/voting sheets. I brought one neighbor with me, and recognized one at another table, and saw another on the sign-in sheet. Howdy, neighbors!

The crowd in one quarter of the cafeteria. More, unseen chaos surrounds us.
